CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Cortland Red Dragons scored five first half goals to earn a 6-0 win over Houghton field hockey Thursday.
Cortland (8-3) scored in the second minute to go up 1-0, then scored four goals over the final 15 minutes of the first half to go up 5-0 at the break. The hosts outshot the Highlanders 19-2 in the first half. Cortland finished the scoring with a goal just 3:33 into the second half.
The Red Dragons outshot the Highlanders, 21-4, on the night and had a 15-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Elizabeth Piszker (Glens Mills, PA, Cardinal O'Hara) made 17 stops in net for Houghton.
Houghton (6-5) is back in action at Oneonta on Saturday, Oct. 10.
