ITHACA, N.Y.-- The Women's Basketball team had tough competition in Tuesday evening's game against the Bombers of Ithaca College, losing by a large 69-29 margin.
Within the first few minutes of the game, the Bombers took the initiative with an 8-point lead. After a 10-4 Highlander run lead and with the help of
Maisie Pipher (Lowman, NY, Twin Tiers Christian) and
Hannah Fink (Coudersport, PA, Coudersport HS), Houghton managed to work their way back to a 2-point deficit.
With just under 10 minutes left in the first half, Ithaca increased their lead to 19 points; the first half of the game closed out with a score of 35-16.
Despite the hopes that the second half of the game would be different, the Highlanders found themselves down 32 points after a 19-6 run. With nearly 9 minutes left in the game, the Bombers continued to push forward closing out the game with a 69-29 win.
Pipher was credited with 9 points, 7 blocks, and 2 steals, followed by Fink with 6 points.
The Highlanders are back in action on Friday, January 23rd where they will play at home against St. John Fisher with a start time of 6 p.m.
