CANTON, N.Y. -- Hattie Burgher (Selkirk, NY, Loudonville Christian) earned all tournament honors after registering 20 kills and 20 digs over two matches at the SUNY Canton Classic.
Houghton went 1-1 on the afternoon.
The Highlanders defeated Rochester Institute of Technology 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) in the opening match as Burgher recorded eight kills and 14 digs.
Anna Coryell (Phelps, NY, Midlakes) added 16 assists to lead the offensive attack while
Laurel Wroblicky (Irvine, CA, Northwood) added 13 digs defensively.
In the second match, Houghton came up short to St. Lawrence, 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-20). Burgher finished with 12 kills and six digs. Coryell chipped in with 30 assists, while Wroblicky added 15 digs. Houghton also got 10 kills from
Jaclyn Algier (Attica, NY, Attica) and 11 digs from
Alyssa Quimby (Northglenn, CO, Community Christian).
Houghton (9-7) returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 1 when they host Alfred State College.
