ROCHESTER, N.Y.— The Highlanders battled hard to defeat Empire 8 Conference opponent, St. John Fisher College 5-4. Bethany Chesebro, Laura Jacuzzo and Jennifer Iacucci won a pair of matches that was key in leading Houghton to their victory today.
Bethany Chesebro (Olean, NY, Olean) won 4-6, 7-6, 10-1 at No. 1 singles, while
Laura Jacuzzo (Seneca Falls, NY, Mynderse) added a win 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, and
Jennifer Iacucci (Chili, NY, Gates-Chili) finished 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 at No. 3 singles with a hard fought win.
Chesebro teamed with Jacuzzo for a 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles while iacucci and Hale completed the day with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Houghton is now 1-6 in conference and 3-9 overall.
