Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls to Ithaca College

ITHACA, N.Y.-- The Highlander Field Hockey team lost 2-0 in a close game against the Bombers of Ithaca College on Wednesday evening.

In the first period, Houghton had very few scoring opportunities; Colleen Sullivan (Salem, CT, East Lyme HS) was credited with the only Highlander shot. The Bombers were able to capitalize on a scoring opportunity of their own, ending the first period 1-0. Houghton Goalie Elizabeth Piszker (Glens Mills, PA, Cardinal O'Hara) contributed with 6 saves in the first period.

It took nearly 8 minutes in the second period when Ithaca scored again. Halfway through the period, the Highlanders had an opportunity to answer back when Hannah Zgrablich (Furlong, PA, Plumstead Christian) had a penalty corner. Kelsie Ashley (Landisville, PA, Hempfield HS) took a shot off the penalty corner, but unfortunately it was blocked.

The last 5 minutes of the game were very eventful on the Highlander offensive-end. Houghton had 4 shooting opportunities as well as 5 penalty corners. Tyler Reese (Kennett Square, PA, Unionville) was credited with 3 of the scoring opportunities. Yet again, Houghton was unable to successfully put one "on the board." Piszker had 5 saves in the second period.

The Houghton Field Hockey team looks forward to playing at home against the Pioneers of Utica College on Saturday, September 27th at 1:00pm.
