HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's soccer suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Nazareth College on Saturday at Burke Field.

The teams played evenly throughout, with both keepers making tough stops to keep the contest scoreless through 70 minutes. Houghton's best chance came in the first half when Jared Toth half volleyed a shot that just hit the crossbar. The Flyers had their own close call early in the second half with a shot that beat Jacob Dunnett and deflected off the post. But the Flyers, who upped their pressure in the offensive end throughout the second half, finally broke through in the 71st minute to go up 1-0.

Houghton held a 13-12 edge in shots, but were outshot 8-5 in the second half. 

Dunnett made four stops in net.

The Highlanders (5-6) next hosts Brockport on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
