HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton got on the board first, but gave up two first half goals and fell 2-1 to visiting Brockport in men's soccer action on Wednesday at Burke Field.

Jared Toth (Victor, NY, Victor) ripped a low shot from 17 yards out that deflected off Brockport defender and just inside the left post to put the Highlanders up 1-0 in the 24th minute. That lead was short-lived, however, as the Eagles evened the score in the 26th minute on a header off a corner kick.

Fifteen minutes later it was another header, this time on a short cross from the endline, that proved to be the game-winner for the visitors.

Brockport outshot the Highlanders, 10-5, in the first half and had eight corners to none for the Highlanders.

The second half was more evenly played with neither teams gaining many scoring changes. The shots were even at three apiece, while corners were two for each side.

Jacob Dunnett (Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Kennebecasis) made seven stops in net.

Houghton (5-7) is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11 when they host Alfred University.
