Field Hockey Drops Game to SUNY Geneseo

HOUGHTON, N.Y.-- The Highlander Field Hockey team was unable to come out on-top in Tuesday night's game against the Knights of SUNY Geneseo, losing 5-1.

Nearly 10 minutes into a scoreless game, the Knights hit one past goalie Elizabeth Piszker (Glens Mills, PA, Cardinal O'Hara). Another 10 minutes later, Highlander Alyson DeMerchant (Napanee, Ontario, Napanee District Secondary School), assisted by Hannah Zgrablich (Furlong, PA, Plumstead Christian), answered back by tying the game 1-1. Just over a minute into tying the game, SUNY Geneseo managed to put themselves ahead in the game 2-1.

While the Highlanders recorded only 7 shots in the game, including 3 shots on goal, they were unable to increase their score. The Knights on the other hand, scored 3 more goals in the second period. While Piszker was credited with 5 saves on the night, the Knights were able to get 5 goals into the net.

The Field Hockey team is back in action on Saturday, October 25th where they will play away against the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College at 1pm.
