HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Highlanders jumped out to a 1-0 lead late in the first, but couldn't hold off Hartwick in a 2-1 field hockey loss at Burke Field on Saturday.
Tyler Reese (Kennett Square, PA, Unionville) got the Highlanders on the board in the 26th minute, taking a pass from 
Kelsie Ashley (Landisville, PA, Hempfield HS) and slipping a shot past the Hawks keeper.
Hartwick tied the score seven minutes later and tallied the go-ahead goal just 2.5 minutes after that. Hartwick had an 11-4 shots advantage in the first half.
The second half was more evenly played, but neither team could manage a goal.
The Hawks outshot the Highlanders, 16-8, on the afternoon.
Elizabeth Piszker (Glens Mills, PA, Cardinal O'Hara) made nine stops in net.
Houghton (3-11; 0-5) returns to action at home vs. Geneseo on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
