UTICA, N.Y.—The Houghton College women's tennis team defeated the Pioneers 7-2 in Empire 8 Conference play this afternoon. 

In singles play Laura Jacuzzo (Seneca Falls, NY, Mynderse) (6-2, 6-3), Katelyn Sylor (Angelica, NY, Fillmore) (6-1, 6-2), Andrea Melhorn (Mount Joy, PA, Donegal)(6-0, 6-1) and Elizabeth Wideman (Akron, NY, Akron) (6-0, 6-1) all knocked off their opponents handily.

Freihofer/Grippo earned a win against Zaloom/Johnson (8-3) in first doubles competition.

Houghton wrapped up their fall record finishing 5-10 overall and 2-6 in the Empire 8.  The Highlanders will play two matches in the Spring of 2015.
