Erica Balman

Erica Balman joins the Houghton women’s basketball program for her first year as an assistant coach in 2020-2021.

Balman arrives at Houghton after playing professionally with Brose Bamberg in Germany for the 2019-2020 season. There, Balman competed in 2. Bundesliga and helped guide her team to a DBBL 2nd league championship.

The Marcellus, NY native was a four-year player with the Monmouth University women’s basketball team. As a center, she appeared in 109 games, starting in 35. With the Hawks, Balman averaged 3.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, and 12.3 minutes. Balman ended her career ranking fifth on Monmouth’s all-time record book with 127 career blocks.

“I am beyond excited to have Erica join our coaching staff,” commented Head Coach Phil Pellegrino. “She has experience at all levels of the game. Erica brings a ton of positive energy to everything that she does and has a very competitive personality, which is something I definitely value. Her passion for the game and helping others will make her a great fit within our program values.”

With the Highlanders, Balman will assist Coach Pellegrino in recruiting, event planning, and constructing individual and team workouts. 

Balman graduated Monmouth University with a Bachelors of Science degree in psychology and minors in creative writing and communications in 2019.
