Henry Johnson III joined Coach Bialek on the men’s basketball coaching staff in the summer of 2022.
Johnson graduated from Greenville University in May 2022 with a bachelors degree in sports management and two years of experience on the men’s basketball team. During the 2019-20 season he averaged 13.9 ppg, before finishing his career with 10.9 ppg during a COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign. Prior to Greenville, Johnson spent two years at Los Angeles Harbor College, where he also played basketball and scored over 1,000 points.
In addition to his time on the court, over the past several years, Johnson interned at the Lakewood, California, YMCA, volunteered with the Salvation Army and Bond County (IL) Meals on Wheels, and was a member of the Greenville University E-Sports Gaming Team.
Coach Bialek’s comments: "Coach Johnson brings all of what I was looking for in an assistant to Houghton Men's Basketball. He is a skill development coach, which we need to rise in the Empire 8. Coach Jay has experience in breaking down film and scouting opponents, which will also aid us in becoming more competitive quickly. He is a people person with a testimony, who played D3 basketball. That will help build meaningful relationships with current players while attracting recruits. The icing is he shares my love for Korean BBQ and milkshakes, so we're going to be a tight-knit coaching staff for sure."
