Nicholas Pettit joined head coach Brian Reitnour’s staff in August of 2023 as a graduate assistant pitching coach.
Coach Pettit brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Western New York, having played and coached with and under multiple seasoned professionals. A four-year player at Covenant College (Ga.), Pettit worked his way into the conference starting rotation during his sophomore year, posting a 4.00 ERA in 10 starts, before suffering a shoulder injury in his junior season.
The right-hander worked his way back by his senior year, making nine appearances, six starts, and striking out 28 batters in 36.2 innings of work.
A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Pettit earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Covenant in May of 2023, graduating with honors. He and his wife, Riley (Houghton Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach), currently reside in Houghton and both are pursuing MBAs.
