KEUKA PARK, NY – Houghton Field Hockey continued its strong start to the 2026 season Wednesday afternoon, earning a 7-0 shutout victory over Keuka at Jephson CAC. With the win, the Highlanders improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
Houghton wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, with
Courtney Walbridge finding the back of the cage just 3:22 into the contest. Walbridge struck again at 5:21, converting a pass from
Kylee Barshinger to give the Highlanders a 2-0 advantage. Houghton added another goal early in the second quarter when Barshinger scored off an assist from
Ava Kramp, sending the Highlanders into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
The Highlanders continued to pull away in the third quarter, scoring twice in a 35-second span. Barshinger's second goal of the contest came at 32:59, while Walbridge found the cage again at 33:34 to complete her three-goal performance.
Ashley Quinnett added another goal at 38:59, giving Houghton a 6-0 lead heading into the final period.
Houghton added its final goal early in the fourth quarter when
Aubrey Thurber scored at 50:55 off a pass from
Davannah Dunn. The Highlanders continued to pressure the Keuka defense throughout the remainder of the contest, finishing with a 23-2 advantage in shots and earning 10 penalty corners compared to Keuka's two.
The Highlander defense also recorded its third shutout of the season, with
Amber Cribbs making one save during the first 45 minutes before
Ailey Moran made one save in the fourth quarter.
