MEADVILLE, PA – Houghton Women's Volleyball dropped both of its matches Friday at the David V. Wise Center, falling 3-1 to Adrian in the first match before suffering a 3-1 loss to Fredonia in the evening match. The Highlanders battled through eight competitive sets, winning two sets on the day and finishing the day with a 3-5 overall record.

The Highlanders opened the day against Adrian, dropping the first two sets before responding with a 25-23 victory in the third set. Houghton then pushed Adrian to extra points in the fourth set, ultimately falling 28-26.
Alexa Belanger led the Highlanders offensively with 19 kills on 53 attacks, while freshman
Petra Thomas added 11 kills on 22 attacks while hitting .409. Freshman
Viktoriia Lozynska also provided an efficient offensive performance, recording nine kills on 17 attacks for a .471 hitting percentage.

Morgan Brace contributed 14 digs. The Highlanders finished the match with 50 kills and 75 digs.

Houghton closed out the day with another tightly contested four-set match, falling to Fredonia. The Highlanders narrowly missed out on the opening set, 28-26, before responding with a 25-22 victory in the second set. Fredonia then claimed the final two sets by identical 26-24 scores.
Belanger again led the Highlander offense, recording 20 kills, three service aces, and 24 digs. Thomas added 13 kills without committing an attack error, finishing with a .565 hitting percentage. Lozynska recorded 12 kills while hitting .313.
Houghton recorded 59 kills and 105 digs as a team in the match. Brennan contributed 20 digs, while Belanger also recorded 24 digs and Brace finished with 20.
