Highlanders Fall Apart in 11th Inning, Lose to Hilbert

HOUGHTON, NY— The Hilbert Hawks scored two runs in the top of the ninth, tying the game, and eventually put up six in the eleventh inning to defeat the Houghton Highlanders, 9-3.

Houghton scored single runs in the first two innings, and Hilbert scratched a run across in the sixth to make it a 2-1 game.

The Highlanders tacked on an insurance run in the eighth before surrendering a pair in the ninth.

In the eleventh, the Hawks took advantage of a single to right, a bloop single to left, an infield single off the end of the bat, another base hit to center, a walk, and a bases-clearing, two-out, four-run infield error.
