MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Houghton baseball got the 2026 season off to a solid start, with 9-3 and 10-2 wins over New England College on Saturday in Myrtle Beach.

The Highlanders swept the doubleheader with strong offense and solid pitching performances in both games, showcasing timely hits and aggressive baserunning to secure wins.
 

Game 1: Houghton 9, New England College 3

Houghton jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in game one, scoring in five different innings on the way to a 9-3 victory.

Offensive Leaders

  • Christian Tortorici: 4 hits and 4 RBI, including a pair of doubles that drove in key runs early and late.

  • Matt Riddell: 2 RBI and 2 hits, including a double in the 7th that helped salt the game away.
