HOUGHTON, NY— The Houghton Highlanders continued to add to their pile of individual and team accomplishments this season, as they split a non-conference doubleheader with perennial USCAA powerhouse, Penn State-DuBois on Tuesday night. The Lions won the first game thanks to an eight-run fourth inning, 16-9, while the Highlanders opened up the floodgates in game two, with a 14-2 win.
The Highlanders broke school records for most stolen bases and runs scored in season, while
Qingyang Feng set a new mark for most total bases in a season.

Game One:
After nearly matching the Lions run-for-run in the opening innings, Houghton allowed eight runs in the fourth, falling behind, 15-5.
The Highlanders rallied to score four more runs in the remaining innings, but could not overcome the deficit.
Houghton rapped out 16 base hits, but DuBois bested the Highlanders by one, collected 17 hits in the seven-inning game.
Game Two:
He Zhang silenced the DuBois bats, allowing only three hits and one earned run over five innings of work, walking three and striking out nine to earn his first win as a Highlander.
Meanwhile, the Houghton bats stayed hot, plating 11 runs over the first four frames. The Highlanders would finish the second game with 13 total hits.
Brett Rosario and
Nate Tyler would each toss a scoreless inning of relief, neither allowing a hit.

Kanta Ueno continued to add on to his record-breaking season, going 7-for-8 with three doubles and three stolen bases on the day. He continues to lead the Empire 8 with a .476 batting average, and now has 59 hits and 41 RBI on the season.

Nate Hall finished 6-for-6 with six RBI, a triple and a stolen base.

Qingyang Feng went 3-for-7 with a double, giving him 84 total bases in his first season with the Highlanders. Feng's slash line is an impressive .372/.613/.461, and includes 14 doubles, five triples and three home runs.
>> The Highlanders stole two bases in the first game and seven more in the second, giving them 99 stolen bases on the season, besting the previous program record of 92, set in 2023. They also already own the most-runs scored in a season, with 316 (8.54 runs per game).
