Highlanders Swept by Golden Eagles

BROCKPORT, NY— Big innings proved costly for the Houghton Highlanders, as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader with Empire 8-frontrunner #12/15 SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles, 5-11 and 4-21.

Game One: After the Highlanders took an early one-run lead in the top of the first, the Golden Eagles dropped an eight-spot in the bottom half of the inning.
 
Houghton would score another in the second, but Brockport would tack on three more in the fourth after a botched double-play by the Highlanders would have ended the inning without a run.
 
Houghton added a pair in the sixth and another in the seventh, but Brockport remained comfortable throughout.
 
Game Two: Houghton scored two quick runs in the first on a Christian Tortorici single to centerfield and loaded the bases with only one out.  Brockport, however, would escape the jam without further damage.
 
Houghton would again load the bases in the third, and put runners at second and third with zero outs in the fourth, but failed to score in both innings.
 
Meanwhile, Brockport regained the lead in the bottom of the first with three runs.  The scored one in the second, four in the third and unloaded for 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth.
 
Houghton would tack on two late runs in the seventh, after Jorge Guerra Rincon was hit by a pitch, Garrett Eddy doubled to deep left, and Ethan Parks hit a two-run single to center.
