HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Both Houghton cross country programs and a student-athlete from each team have received honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their work in the classroom.
Noelle Linenfelser and
Amos Bixler were each named to USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams for maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finishing in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meets.
Linenfelser, a junior biomedical sciences major with a 3.96 GPA, finished 14th at the 2024 Niagara Regioin Cross Country Championships.
Bixler, a junior environmental science major with a 3.78 GPA, finished 27th at the regional event.
In addition to the individual honors, Houghton's men's and women's teams each earned a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award for maintaining a team GPA above a 3.1. The women tallied a GPA of 3.65 following the fall semester while the men finished the fall with a GPA of 3.49.
