HOUGHTON, NY – The Houghton Highlanders hosted the Elmira College Soaring Eagles on Wednesday night for a non-conference match up at the Nielsen Center. The Soaring Eagles secured the match victory winning in three straight sets.

Despite a valiant effort, the Houghton Highlanders fell to the unbeaten Elmira Soaring Eagles in straight sets. The match began with Elmira establishing an early seven-point lead in the first set, which Houghton was unable to fully overcome, ultimately falling 18-25.
 
In the second set, Houghton displayed some resilience, matching Elmira point for point. Tied at 15-15, the Soaring Eagles surged ahead with a series of four consecutive kills, allowing them to pull away and take the set 25-19.
 
The third set proved to be the most competitive, with multiple lead changes and a determined Houghton team keeping the pressure on Elmira. As the set progressed, the Highlanders found momentum with crucial blocks that energized their defense. Despite their efforts, Elmira managed to hold on and claimed the final set 25-21, completing the match in a three-set sweep.
