Highlanders Remain Unbeaten, Take Down Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY – Crysta LaCrosse scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help the Houghton Highlanders move to 8-0 on the season with a rousing victory over the Buffalo State Bengals on Saturday afternoon, 78-51.

While LaCrosse lit up the offensive end, the Houghton defense stymied the Bengals to the tune of 25 percent shooting from the floor, and limited them to only 3-of-19 (16 percent) from three-point range.

The Highlanders led by only four following the first 10 minutes, but built a more comfortable 37-28 advantage by halftime.

By the third quarter, though, Houghton began to pull away, outscoring the Bengals, 27-14, over the third 10 minutes, and continued to distance themselves throughout the final period of play.
