Hawks Ice Highlanders Offense in Upset

HOUGHTON, NY – As the temperatures outside the Nielsen Center began to cool back to below freezing, so did the Houghton Highlanders' shooting game, as the Hartwick Hawks handed the Highlanders their fourth consecutive loss on Friday night, 56-42.
 
After hitting 42 percent of their shots, including 29 percent from beyond the arc, in the first quarter, Houghton held a 14-11 advantage over the Hawks.
 
From that point on the Highlanders converted only 23 percent of their shots and did not make another three-pointer in 26 attempts. 
 
Entering this evening's game, Houghton averaged nearly 10 threes per game, and shot almost 35 percent from long distance.
 
After a 10-10 second quarter, the Highlanders still led, 24-21, but in the third quarter the Hawks started to pull ahead, leading by as many as eight, and taking a six-point advantage into the final 10 minutes.
 
From their Hartwick continued to pull away as the Highlanders struggled to put the ball in the hoop.
