GENESEO, NY— The Geneseo Knights came out of the shoot fast, building a sizeable lead in the first 10 minutes, as they defeated the Houghton Highlanders on Saturday afternoon, 69-51, to remain undefeated in Empire 8 conference play.
 
The Knights hit nearly 65 percent (11-of-17) of their shots in the first quarter, including 5-of-7 (71 percent) from beyond the three-point line, as they built a 27-18 advantage. 
 
While Geneseo's offense would cool over the remaining 30 minutes, their defensive grip on the Highlanders would only tighten.  Following the opening quarter, the Knights would hold their opponent under 28 percent shooting for the remainder of the game, never allowing more than 12 points in a quarter.

>> While Houghton forced more turnovers than they committed (13-to-10), Geneseo pulled down more rebounds (44-to-31) and outshot the Highlanders (47%-to-31%).
 
>> Crysta LaCrosse and Anna Dening scored a team-high 12 points apiece, while LaCrosse grabbed six rebounds and four assists.  Dening hit 4-of-9 three-point attempts.  She is shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc on the year.
 
>> Kiley Snow led the Knights with 19 points, while Grace Galgano grabbed 11 boards and Mackenzie Reigle dished out 12 assists.
