Women's Soccer Posts Second-Straight Shutout

HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Karryne Mims scored for the second time in two games to lead Houghton women's soccer to a 1-0 win over Alfred State on Tuesday at Burke Field.

The win was Houghton's fourth in its last five games.

DETAILS
>> Houghton controlled play throughout and just missed on several close chances in both halves.
>> The one that found its way into the back of the net was a 25-yard shot off the foot of Karryne Mims in the 37th minute. The sophomore gathered a pass in the middle of the pitch and looped a long shot over the keeper and just under the crossbar.
>> In the game's final minutes, Houghton had two strong chances for a second goal. Sophia Templeton's point-blank shot from three yards out was turned away by the Pioneer keeper. And on the ensuing corner, Natalie Milne put a header off the bar.

>> Milne led the Highlanders with three shots.
