Men's Tennis Season Comes to End in NCAA First Round

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Houghton men's tennis saw its 2024 season end at the NCAA Division III National Tournament with a first round 5-0 loss to No. 20 North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday.

Houghton (9-5) lost all three doubles matches, with the first doubles pairing of Levi Webb and Nolan Zach putting up a strong fight in an 8-2 loss. The match ended in singles play after straight-set losses by Webb and Zach in second and third singles, respectively. Although his match didn't go the distance, Micah Schilke gave his top-50 ranked opponent all he could handle. Schilke had evened the first set at three games apiece, before falling 6-3, and trailed 3-1 in the second set when the overall match was decided.

"I am super proud of this team and the season we had," said Head Coach Matthew Webb. "The seniors led well and finished well today."
