HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis completed its 5th straight undefeated regular season in conference play after a 9-0 home win over Alfred on Saturday.

The win was the 43rd regular season E8 win in a row for the Highlanders (7-4 overall; 6-0 E8), who captured their fifth Empire 8 regular season championship and the right to host the E8 Tournament on May 3-4.

Against the Saxons, Houghton was clicking in each of the matches. After sweeping doubles play, the Highlanders got wins in first through sixth singles from Micah Schilke, Levi Webb, Nolan Zach, Graham Cook, Tobias Webb and Preston Tobolski.

"Today was a great finish to the regular season," said Head Coach Matthew Webb. "We celebrated our seniors (Micah, Tobias, and Levi) with a clean performance all the way around with straight set victories at every spot for a 9-0 win. We are looking forward to the E8 championship next weekend and fully expect a competitive tournament and lots of support from the Houghton tennis community. Today was a special day, but we are setting our eyes now on next weekend."
