ONEONTA, NY – Jessica Betts scored three goals as the Hartwick Hawks ended the Houghton Highlanders' season for the third time in as many years, and the fourth time in the past five, 4-1.
Betts put the Hawks on the board only two minutes into the game, picking the pocket of the last Houghton defender and sliding a quick shot past the Houghton keeper.
Hartwick would put up three more goals over the next 20 minutes, taking a 4-0 lead into the half without allowing a single Houghton shot.
Just over a minute-and-a-half into the second half,
Deborah Cross received the insert at the top of the circle off a Houghton penalty stroke. Cross passed to
Jace Hunzinger on the right side, who slid a perfect pass to
Ava Kramp, who deposited her third goal of the season into the back of the cage.
That, however, would be as close as the Highlanders would come, as the score remained 4-1 for the remainder of the half.
