GENESEO, N.Y. -- For the second straight year, Houghton women's soccer closed its season with a loss in the first round of the Empire 8 Tournament as the No. 7 Highlanders fell, 4-2, to No. 2 Geneseo on the road Saturday afternoon.

>> The host Knights scored first, in the 13th minute, took that 1-0 lead into the break, then added three more goals over the first 25 minutes of the second half.
>> Natalie Milne brought some life to the Highlanders with her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 77th minute off an assist from Sophia Templeton.
>> Just 10 minutes later, Templeton put her first career goal into the back of the net, off a helper from Milne.

NOTABLE STATS
>> The Highlanders played stronger in the second half. After being outshot 12-1 in the opening 45 minutes, Houghton was able to muster six shots after the break. Final shot totals were 21-7 in favor of the Knights.
>> Preslee Miller stopped eight shots over the full 90 minutes.
>> Templeton finished the season with a team-high six assists.
