McColl to Step Down from Men's Soccer Post

HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's soccer Head Coach Bobby McColl is stepping away from the program after six seasons at the helm, Director of Athletics Matthew Webb announced today.

"I want to thank Coach McColl for his leadership of the men's soccer program over the past six years.  We wish him well as he makes this transition," said Webb.

McColl led the Highlanders for six seasons, producing a 29-54-13 overall record and a 15-22-8 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. He helped lead the team to two E8 tournament appearances. The team shared the spring 2021 regular season conference title and advanced to the conference semifinals that season before finishing the 2021 fall campaign with a 6-2 E8 mark and making the program's second appearance in the conference championship game.

"I would like to thank Matt Webb for the opportunity to coach the men's soccer team for the past six years. I have loved my time at Houghton and have made some great memories and friendships," said McColl. "I have been fortunate to coach some great young men during my time here. It was a very difficult decision to step down from my position but ultimately, I feel like it is the right thing for my family and for the program at this time. I'll always be a Houghton fan and look forward to watching the team play in the upcoming years."

The department is conducting a national search to fill the position.
