HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Nazareth men's soccer scored the game-winner in the final two minutes to escape with a 2-1 victory and keep Houghton winless in conference play on Homecoming Saturday at Burke Field.

DETAILS
>> The game was evenly played throughout. Nazareth got on the board in the 5th minute on a 20-yard blast that caught the underside of the cross bar and bounced into the net.
>> Despite the early deficit, Houghton played tough in the first half and actually created more dangerous chances than the visitors. Total shots were even at three apiece after 45 minutes.
>> Nazareth upped the pressure in the second half, but it was a Highlanders who found the back of the net, thanks to an Nathi Volmink penalty kick conversion.
>> With the game looking like it was heading to a draw and the clock ticking under two minutes, the Golden Flyers sent a long ball down the center of the field, where the attacker out-muscled two Highlander defenders into the box and netted the game-winner past a diving Joshua Smith.
>> Nazareth had a chance to score another just 30 seconds later when a Golden Flyer was taken down in the box. But Smith made a diving one-handed stop on the ensuing penalty kick.
>> The Highlanders pressed in the final minute, earning two corner kicks, but a header just missed wide as time expired.
