HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The 2024 season for Houghton men's soccer came to an end with a 3-1 loss to Elmira on Burke Field on Wednesday evening.

The Soaring Eagles scored twice in the first half to take control. Each team tallied a goal in the second half.

>> The visiting Soaring Eagles didn't take long to get things going, tallying their first goal just 22 seconds into the contest.
>> Trailing by one and plagued by another slow start, the Highlanders were forced to play catchup throughout the contest.
>> Elmira got an insurance tally in the 12th minute, and outshot the Highlanders 11-6 in the first half.
>> While the Highlanders found better play after the break, and were able to cut the deficit to a goal on a James Fay tally (assist to Kennedy Obanda), it was too little too late for the hosts.
