BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Houghton men's volleyball lost another match to a future AMCC opponent, dropping a 3-0 decision to Hilbert on Tuesday night.
The Hawks won 25-14, 25-20, 25-20.
Leading the way for the Highlanders was
Elijah Sproull with nine kills, 11 assists and four digs.
Devin Burns finished with five kills and six digs, while
Elijah Studt added four kills,
Jerry Buno chipped in with eight assists and
Anthony Panboon finished with six digs.
While the Hawks controlled the first set, Houghton responded well to push the hosts over the final two games. In the second set, Houghton was able to pull ahead 17-16 and 19-18, but the Hawks earned the win with key points down the stretch. The third set saw a late Houghton rally come up just short. The Highlanders trailed 19-9, but scored six-straight points to pull within four, and the teams went back and forth before the Hawks closed out the set for the win.
Houghton is back in action when they host Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, February 3 at 2 p.m. in the Nielsen Center.
