FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Andy Loomis converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to help Houghton men's soccer escape with a 5-5 result vs. Fredonia in the Fredonia State Soccer Classic on Friday night.

The Highlanders jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead. The Blue Devils would score three-straight in response and eventually took a 5-4 lead before Loomis's tying goal.

>> The Highlanders controlled play early on, but it wasn't until the 21st minute that they got on the board. Alex Kalivoda opened the scoring, added another tally (his fourth of the season) nine minutes later, and then assisted on a Loomis goal in the 33rd minute
>> Fredonia quickly responded with their first of the night in the 37th minute and got a penalty kick goal in the 44th minute to pull within one at the half.
>> The hosts evened the score at three in the 51st minute before Tobias Webb pushed the advantage back to one with his first goal of the campaign just a minute later.
>> Fredonia would then score twice, in the 66th and 80th minutes, to take a 5-4 lead.

>> Houghton outshot Fredonia, 9-6, in the first half, but the Blue Devils held a 13-5 edge in the final 45 minutes.
