74 Student-Athletes Earn E8 President's List Honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –  A total of 74 Houghton University student-athletes have been recognized by the Empire 8 Athletic Conference for their classroom performance during the spring 2023 semester.

These student-athletes maintained a 3.75 GPA or higher to earn a spot on the E8 Presidents' List. The total represents 38 percent of Houghton's student-athletes.

They are among more than 1,100 student-athletes from the league's 10 full-time institutions to be recognized for their contributions on the field and their excellence in the classroom.

Recipients of this honor must earn a 3.75 grade-point average or higher during the semester while participating in an NCAA-sponsored sport. In addition, the student-athlete must display positive conduct on and off campus and be enrolled full-time at the member institution. The conference states, "Its commitment to serve the educational needs of its student-athletes is the hallmark of the Empire 8 Conference."

Houghton's department GPA was 3.40 for the 196 student-athletes competing during the spring semester. Twenty-one Houghton student-athletes achieved a 4.0 GPA during the fall, 109 had a GPA over 3.5, and 158 exceeded a GPA of 3.0.

Additionally, 14 Houghton teams earned a team GPA of 3.2 or higher for the fall semester.
