HOUGHTON, NY – In their final home match of the season, the Houghton Highlanders lost to the visiting Hartwick Hawks in straight sets, 3-0.
 
In the opening set the Hawks put together several multi-point runs to build a commanding, 22-10, lead.  While the Highlanders played well down the stretch, they simply ran out of time as Hartwick won the set, 25-18.
 
While the first set may have been the cleanest set played by the Hawks, it was also the cleanest set played by the Highlanders.
 
The Hawks were unable to match their impressive 16 kill, .483 attack percentage performance from the opener in the next two sets, but Houghton committed more attack errors than kills in the third and fourth, paving the way for a straight-set victory by Hartwick.
