DETAILS
>> The Gators got on the board first in the 8th minute when Kennedy Jones found herself on a run up the middle and slipped the ball past
Alliah Fluent who had come out to challenge.
>> Just a minute after the Sage goal,
Anna-Lena Gilbert found
Karryne Mims near the corner of the six-yard box and the freshman side-footed a quick shot past the Gators keeper.
>> Mims would double the lead just 9 minutes later when she scored her team-leading 9th goal on an 18-yard looping shot that slipped under the post.
>> The team would play even though most of the remaining minutes of the first half.
>> Down a goal, the Gators began to press and maintained the majority of the possession through the first 25 minutes of the second half and produced a sequence of five shots and three corners over a 10-minute span. Houghton created a few scoring changes of their own after that. Each team just missed on opportunities with loose balls in front of the net, but both defenses were able to turn away the threats.
>> As the game clock ticked under 10 minutes, the Gators continued to apply the pressure. They produced five more shots and another corner before Jones again found the back of the net with the equalizer at the 86:14 mark.
>> As the clock wound down, the Gators won a throw-in, worked the ball into the box, and Gianna Viscusi deposited the winner past Fluent.
