Flurry of Early Goals Lead Highlanders past Elmira

HOUGHTON, NY – Deborah Cross scored three goals in the first seven minutes of the game, as the Houghton Highlanders picked up their fifth conference victory of the season, defeating the Elmira Soaring Eagles, 9-1.
 
Houghton scored six goals in the first 15 minutes to open a commanding lead which they would never relinquish. 
 
The Highlanders launched an all-out assault on the opposing goal, outshooting the Soaring Eagles, 43-1.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders return to Burke Field on Saturday when they will wrap up regular season conference play against the St. John Fisher Cardinals.  The Cardinals are currently in sole possession of first place with a 6-0 record.  If the Highlanders defeat the Cardinals it will create a three-way tie between Houghton, St. John Fisher and Hartwick, with the post-season tournament seeding coming down to goal-differential.
