HOUGHTON, NY – The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles took down the Houghton Highlanders on Tuesday night, thanks to a sprawling defensive effort and a strong offensive attack.
The Highlanders clawed back from an early 8-1 deficit in the first set, coming within two points, 23-21, but a Golden Eagles' kill and a Houghton attack error gave Brockport the opener.
Houghton came out strong in the second, eventually leading, 11-8, before the Golden Eagles scrapped back into the lead. The two teams traded points throughout the remainder of the match until Brockport pulled away late to go up, 2-0.
The final set was all Brockport, as the Golden Eagles 14 kills and only two attack errors for an impressive .414 attack percentage.

The Highlanders travel to Albany this Friday, where they will open up Empire 8 conference play with a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Russell Sage College Gators. Houghton will then travel to Oneonta on Saturday to take on the Hartwick Hawks at 2:00 p.m.
