The Houghton College Women's Tennis team ended their Spring Season with a 9-0 defeat to Allegheny College. The loss brings the lady Highlander's to an overall record of 4-15 to end their 2021-22 campaign. At first doubles,
Chloe Esch and Marilynn Amborksi fell 8-1,
Maddison Soth and Gariana Valentin would also fall 8-1 at the second pairing, and
Hialeah Johnson and Allie Leary would be defeated 8-2 at the third spot.
In singles action,
Chloe Esch would have a spirited fight at the second position falling 6-2, 6-2 in a match that was closer than the score would indicate. Amborski would be defeated 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, while Soth and Leary would fall 6-0, 6-1 at the third and sixth spots respectively. Valentin and Johnson would each be bested with 6-0, 6-0 scores at the fourth and fifth positions.
"I saw a lot of growth throughout the Spring with our ladies and I could not be more proud of that," Coach Shilvock said after the match. "I want to thank Maddi Soth for all of her hard work and effort and we will certainly miss having her next Fall. Our women's season is officially over, but I am excited to get back to action with them next Fall and see all of their hard work come to life."
The Lady Highlanders' will get back into action next semester as they start the new Fall 2022 season.
