HOUGHTON, NY— The St. John Fisher Cardinals capitalized on a pair of three-run first-innings and separated late in both games, sweeping the Houghton Highlanders as the two teams kicked off Empire 8 conference play, 10-0 and 8-3.

Game 1:
Fisher's Alec Teska took a no-hit bid into the bottom of the seventh inning before
Zach Parr drove a two-out double over the head of the left fielder.
Teska finished his complete game shutout, allowing only the single hit to Parr and two walks, while striking out four.
The Cardinals received all the run support they would need in the first inning when a pair of walks, a pair of hits, and a costly Houghton error put three runs on the board for St. John Fisher.
Noah Campanelli would finish a perfect 4-for-4, while Michael Beimel hit his second homerun of the season for the Cardinals.
Game 2:
In a near replay of the first game, the Highlanders scuffled in the first, falling into a three-run deficit before even coming to the plate.
Fisher would add another in the second before Houghton got on the board in the bottom half of the inning. Parr led off with a double to deep center, and two batters later Davis Mcmillan followed with a double to the right-center gap, scoring Parr.
Houghton would trim the deficit to two in the bottom of the third when Parr struck again. This time driving another double to the gap, scoring
Dylan Boprey.
The Cardinals picked up an unearned run in the fourth, putting the score at 5-2, but the Highlanders again answered in the bottom of the inning, when an infield single from
Sebastian Rodriguez scored
Ethan Cetton.
In the sixth Fisher added some insurance, scoring a pair of runs and loading the bases before Houghton reliever
Will Tormey entered the game and induced the final out.
Houghton threatened in each of their final four at bats but failed to produce a run, grounding into double plays in each of the final three innings.

>> Parr finished his day 3-for-6 with three doubles. He currently leads the Highlanders with nine doubles and a .377 average.
Ethan Cetton also added a pair of hits in game two.
