Alfred State Bats Too Much for Highlanders

Boprey's Hit Streak Continues

HOUGHTON, NY— A six-run third inning, and an outstanding performance from freshman Spence Riehler on the mound, propelled the Alfred State Pioneers past the Houghton Highlanders on Tuesday afternoon, 12-2.

Riehler tossed 7.2 innings, while allowing only two runs on six hits and two walks, keeping the Houghton hitters off-balance all day.

After a pair of scoreless innings, the Pioneers broke through in the third, plating six runs on four hits, two walks and two hit-by-pitch to take a commanding lead.

Alfred State would add two more in the sixth, three in the seventh, and one more in the eighth before the Highlanders would crack the scoreboard.

Chris VanCheri smacked a one-out double into right-center and Zach Parr and Ethan Cetton hit back-to-back base hits, scoring one.  Davis Mcmillan followed with a double to left, scoring Houghton's second run before the Pioneers finally worked out of the inning.
