HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton College Athletics is pleased to recognize the contributions of Dr. Robb Moses '62, Wendy (Ivey) Rose '01, Alicia (Campbell) Mucher '02 and Angela (Layne) Meabon '03 as the latest inductees into the Highlander Hall of Honor.
Â
The 2022 Hall of Honor Class will be honored during an induction ceremony and dinner on Friday, April 1 at 5 p.m. in the Houghton Campus Center. The addition of Moses, Rose, Mucher and Meabon will bring the Hall of Honor roster to 60 student-athletes, coaches, teams and contributors.
Â
Moses was a stellar student-athlete during Houghton's Purple & Gold era, excelling in a variety of sports but making his biggest mark in basketball. His play under the basket and rebounding prowess helped guide Gold to a dominant run over the Purple team during his four years and earned him a sport on the varsity each year.
Â
Away from athletic competition, Moses majored in both chemistry and zoology with a minor in history. He was also editor of the Boulder and served as the class president. Upon graduation in 1962, Moses attended medical school at The John Hopkins University. He graduated in 1966 and began his residency in internal medicine at Hopkins on the Osler Service. He moved on to Baylor University College of Medicine in 1971 where he served as a professor for the bulk of his career.
Â
Houghton honored Moses as its 2015 Alumnus of the Year.
Â
Though retired, he still serves part time as a professor at Baylor in Houston, Texas, where he lives with his wife Audrey Johnson '62. They have two children and two grandchildren.
Â
Rose, Mucher and Meabon overlapped during a six-year span that was arguably the most successful in women's basketball history. From 1997-2003, the program had a record of 111-61, claimed three Northeast Atlantic Conference titles and advanced to three NAIA National Tournaments under Head Coach and 2012 Hall of Honor inductee H. "Skip" Lord.
Â
Rose was the first on the scene, joining the program for the 1997-98 campaign and finishing among the career leaders in several statistical categories, including first in steals (321), first in assists (407), fifth in made threes (148), fourth in rebounds (785) and 10
th in points (1,091). Rose was named conference freshman of the year in 1997-98, was a first team all-conference selection as a sophomore and junior, and earned honorable mention honors as a senior. She was part of three conference titles and three national tournaments.
Â
Rose has served as a teacher, coach, business owner and church volunteer since leaving Houghton, but her heart for serving Christ prompted her and her husband, Brandon, to transition to the mission field. They now serve as full-time missionaries in Honduras, where they live with their seven children.
Â
Mucher joined Rose in 1998 and adjusted immediately to the college game. She averaged at least 11 points per game over her four-year career, including a career-high 15.3 as a junior. Mucher was also part of three conference titles and national championship appearances. She wrapped up her career as the third all-time scorer in Houghton history (1,353 points), finished second in career steals (279), third in assists (359) and fourth in threes (161). She was a second team all-conference selection as a freshman and sophomore, honorable mention as a junior, and first team as a senior.
Â
Following Houghton, Mucher served as an assistant coach under Lord before moving on to high school coaching and teaching positions in Colorado and Indiana. She went on to earn a master's degree in sport administration from the University of Central Missouri. She returned to Houghton in 2012 and served as head coach of her alma mater for eight seasons before transitioning back to high school teaching in 2020.
Â
Mucher continues to live in Houghton with her husband, Jason, and their three children.
Â
Meabon became part of the trio for the 1999-2000 season and was a participant in two conference championship and two national tournaments. Meabon averaged more than 14 points per game over her final two seasons, with career-highs of 15.6 points and 7.6 rebounds as a senior. She scored a career-high 41 points as a junior, which ranks second all-time in program history. She finished her career seventh in career points (1,197), sixth in career rebounds (785), and third in career blocks (95). She was named first team all-conference as a sophomore and senior and second team all-conference as a junior.
Â
Meabon went on to earn a master's degree in education and briefly pursued a teaching career. She was a stay at home mom for eight years and currently serves part-time in the food service industry. She and her husband, Matt, live in Fairport, N.Y., with their five children.

About the Hall of Honor
Established in 1994 the Athletic Hall of Honor is charged "To help preserve, strengthen and add distinction to the athletic program at Houghton College." The 'Highlanders' Hall of Honor recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the program, through participation, support or interest. Induction into the Hall takes into account the lives of those honored, acknowledging evidence of discipline, sacrifice, steadfastness, cooperation, commitment and Christian witness. The Hall honors the men and women who have demonstrated—both on campus and in succeeding years—the worth of athletics by their mature leadership and their impact on society. Additionally, inductees may have exemplified courage and tenacity having applied the disciplines learned in athletics to significant life challenges or championed a significant cause that has benefited others. A plaque commemorating each member hangs in the foyer of the Nielsen Center.
