ROCHESTER, NY – In a match where not a single set was decided by more than five points, the Nazareth Golden Flyers prevailed over the Houghton Highlanders on Saturday afternoon, 3-1.
With the match tied at one set apiece, Nazareth seemed in control late into the pivotal third set, leading 21-14. But four straight kills kick-started the Highlanders, pulling them within three points. Following a Houghton service error, again reeling off four more points in a row to tie the game, 22-22.
Once again, though, Nazareth responded with three straight kills to take a 2-1 lead.
The fourth set brought more of the same back-and-forth. With the set tied, 20-20, the Golden Flyers again came through in the clutch, scoring the match's final five points.
