HOUGHTON, N.Y. --Â A back and forth men's soccer homecoming contest vs. Alfred ended in a 2-2 tie on Burke Field.
The Saxons jumped ahead 1-0, and after a Houghton goal evened the score at one apiece, the visitors scored again to go up 2-1 at the half. The Highlanders found the equalizer in the 86th minute off the foot of freshman
Iann Dominic.

>> The game was evenly played throughout, and after 18 minutes of scoreless play, it was the Saxons who found the back of the net first. Chase Freeland ripped a 25-yard laser past freshman keeper

Caleb Bailey's shot off the cross bar bounced directly to
Kyle Thyssen, who calmly headed in the equalizer.
>> Freeland put Alfred back up by a goal with another unassisted blast in the 33rd minute.
>> After the break, it was the Highlanders who pressed and controlled the action, but they couldn't create enough chances to find the tying goal. And after a red card in the 79th minute put the hosts down a man, it looked as if any additional opportunities were gone.

Alex Kalivoda made a valiant run down the left flank. After pushing the ball to the end line and into the box, he centered a pass to Dominic, who sent a quick re-direct past the keeper from five yards out.
