HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Houghton men's soccer got three first half goals to earn their first conference win, 3-0, over Keuka in a key E8 matchup Saturday on Burke Field.

Houghton's passes were crisp throughout the contest, and the dangerous Highlander attack just missed out on several additional scoring chances.

The win keeps the Highlanders' hopes alive for a post season berth.

>> Houghton's first goal came after a fantastic solo run by Caleb Bailey in the 21st minute. The sophomore forward beat several defenders down the left side to the end line and centered a perfect cross to Kyle Thyssen, who quickly redirected the pass into the net.
>> Just 10 minutes later, after a turnover at midfield by the Wolves, Bailey and Matthew Connolly teamed up for another run down the left flank. Bailey found Connolly on the near side of the box and after a quick turn by the freshman, he found Isaiah Miller alone on the right side, who sent a low shot just inside the far post to make the score 2-0.
>> The score grew to 3-0 in the 35th minute off Highlander corner played by Andy Loomis. Oscar Palacios nodded the corner pass down to Levi Kennel, who volleyed home the final goal of the contest.

NOTABLE STATS
>> Houghton dominated in shots, 24-3, and put 15 of their attempts on frame.
>> The Highlanders earned nine corners, compared to just four for the Wolves.
>> Loomis led the Highlanders with five shots, including four on net.
>> Jack Arterton made three saves in just under 60 minutes of action. Joshua Ludolph didn't face a shot in the final 30 minutes of relief.
