Box Score GENESEO, NY – The Houghton College men's soccer team dropped their road game at SUNY Geneseo 4-0 on Tuesday night.
The Knights got on the scoreboard first with a goal off the foot of Liam Mulholland to take a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute of the first half. Ryan Hike followed this up with a goal of his own minutes before halftime to give Geneseo a 2-0 lead going into half.
Geneseo would start the second half with a goal from Owen Frank 30 seconds into the half, putting the Highlanders in a 3-0 hole with 43 minutes left in the match. Houghton tried to get out of their slump offensively throughout the night but was only able to attempt 3 shots on goal. (Coming from Logan Schrock, Blake Eby, & Micah Schilke). However, their efforts were all saved by Geneseo's keeper, Will Price. The Knights would add on a fourth goal in the 71st minute from Tyler Lewandowski to get the score to 4-0 and defeat the Highlanders.
With the loss to the knights, the Highlanders drop to 0-2 on the season. They will be traveling to Fredonia this weekend to play in a tournament where they will line up against Buffalo State on Friday afternoon and the host, Fredonia, Saturday afternoon.
