HOUGHTON, NY – Two goals in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter vaulted SUNY Morrisville past the Houghton Highlanders on Tuesday evening, 2-1.
Houghton took an early lead in the ninth minute of play when
Peyton Bentley took a pass from
Jace Hunzinger inside the crease and ripped a shot past the Mustang keeper.
The Highlanders continued to pressure Morrisville throughout the first half, but the game tilted toward the Mustangs after the break.
Just less than five minutes into the fourth quarter, Heather Cummings took a long pass from the left side and backhanded a shot into the cage to tie the score.
Two-and-a-half minutes later, Cummings would strike again, this time off a Morrisville corner, receiving a combination of passes before slotting home the eventual game-winner.
