HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Houghton College Women's Soccer team dropped their home season opener 4-0 to SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon.
 
In a fast paced first half, the Golden Eagles scored three goals to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.  The Highlanders had several attempts to put the ball in but could not find the net. These struggles continued through the half and let the Highlanders scoreless going into the locker room at halftime.
 
The Highlanders would step up their defensive intensity in the second half only allowing Brockport a single goal.  Megan Merrifield gave an amazing effort, saving 11 shots while allowing 4 goals on the day. However, The Golden Eagles would add on a fourth goal late in the game from Ashley Wrightman to get the score to 4-0 and defeat the Highlanders.
 
With the loss, the Highlanders drop to 1-1-0.
