Men's Soccer Gets Second OT Victory Against Pitt-Brad

Houghton, NY– The Houghton College Men's soccer team took a break from Empire 8 play to have. a friendly match against the panthers of Pitt-Brad.

The match started out blazing with Brice Bogna getting an early goal in the second minute of play which gave the Highlanders tons of momentum. However Pitt-Bradford would come back with two goals of their own from Jan Winnewisser in the 18th minute and Chase Rider in the 26th minute, Ultimately giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead heading into half time.

As the second half began, the panthers would go on to score their third unanswered goal in a row giving them a nice cushion to sit on the rest of the match. However, this deficit would only spark the Highlanders to make a comeback in front of their home crowd. Alex Kalivoda started the comeback with his first goal of the season coming in the 57th minute and now all Houghton had to do was find a second goal in order to tie this one up. That is exactly what they did as Alex Kalivoda found his second goal of the match and season in the winding moments of the game. With the game tied as the clock expired, the Highlanders found themselves in a similar position as a few nights before against Utica. As OT began, the Highlanders still held the momentum from their comeback in regulation. This would allow Houghton to come out in the second minute of OT and score off the foot of Brice Bogna for his second goal of the match, giving the Highlanders the win.

With the Win, the Highlanders rise to 2-5 on the season as they prepare to jump back into conference play against Elmira on Saturday.
